I long for discourse.  Meaningful conversation where all parties involved listen and consider before adding their own thoughts to the mix.  Not starting from a position of certainty – all to often discounting others before words are even exchanged – but instead one open to hearing another viewpoint and working to understand.

We can choose discourse, or it can be chosen for us.  Choice is best, but legal requirement, societal structures, or even the final aftermath of violence can lead there as well.  Most of what is good in this world requires open communication.  Love, education, worship, commerce, discipline, growth.

As we now exist in an infinite sea of words – it’s time to carefully chose the ones that will move us forward.  The ones that matter.

There is nothing more powerful on this earth than people dedicated to mutual support, growth… and discourse.
